Our founding chairman Late Sri. N.K Sureka established Elequip & Tools Corporation in April 1966 in Calcutta, with a vision to supply high quality Material handling products to the rising industrial sector in West Bengal and achieve leadership in the field.
Hailing from Rajasthan, he moved to Calcutta in 1959 to make a living. His passion to learn business and courage to handle situations landed him various jobs where he made his valuable contribution and also gathered skills of trade.

His managerial duties at top industries like Birla cotton, Birla Jute gave him the valuable varied experience which paved way for his business career. While laying the foundation stones for Elequip & Tools Corp., he also continued his bestowed duties as a general manager at Belle Vue Clinic hospital, Calcutta, where his compassionate self, found joy in serving in the healthcare industry. His team always looked up and found solace in both professional and personal matters, making him much loved and respected in the organisation.

In a time when industries in West Bengal accounted for 20 percent of all-India industrial output, this was the right time to venture into the unknown yet green pastures. With luck and support from fellow acquaintances, he began trading Indef brand Materials handling equipment (MHE) paving a path to become market leaders and experts in the field.

Growing in strength and experience, we set up our first manufacturing unit for Electric winch and overhead crane in 1983 at Howrah, under the brand name ‘Sureka’. Having tasted the salt on industrial soil, we evolved from a trading company to an engineering firm, designing and manufacturing equipment and providing solutions to industries across sectors like- steel, power, construction, Manufacturing, Mining, Food etc.

As India further industrialised, more and more private sectors emerged and with the boom of technology, companies were eagerly adopting best practices from across the globe. This called for sharpening our products to match international quality and continue to provide customers solutions which are updated and efficient. Our persistent emphasis on quality and dependable service, has built strong customer base over the years.

We expanded our product range within the large periphery of MHE, to include automation from international manufacturer- Giovenzana (Italy), a wide range of warehouse equipment for stacking and storage application, automation parts for cable movement and various auxiliary products to enhance our customer experience, thus providing them an – All-under-one-roof solution. We have always been customer centric in our approach, as ‘complete customer satisfaction’ and ‘building long-term relation’ has been our motto.

Our journey so far has been an upward trajectory, and we have humbly established our position as market leaders in this segment, building valuable relations with customers and suppliers alike.
We have consistently focused on service of our equipment as they are very crucial to gaining customer satisfaction and trust, and we have been rewarded by goodwill and high market reputation over the years. We aim to keep innovating, improving and deploy better value addition to our industry both with goods products and dependable services.
